Harbourside Flowers is owned and run by us, two sisters—Angharad and Bethan—whose shared passion for growing is at the heart of everything we do. You’ll often find us immersed in our flowers, delighting in every new shoot and bud that emerges. We’re dedicated to seasonal growing, carefully selecting plants that not only produce beautiful cut flowers but also thrive naturally with minimal intervention. Our approach ensures a more sustainable, eco-friendly way of growing—one that celebrates the beauty of nature in its own time.
We come from different professional backgrounds—Angharad as a former Project Manager who retrained in horticulture over a decade ago and has since built a successful gardening business, and Bethan as a Conservation Architect whose curiosity about where flowers come from led to a deep interest in British flowers and sustainable floristry. Over the years, we’ve each found our own ways into growing, from propagating and selling plants at plant fairs to filling our gardens with flowers for cutting. In the summer of 2024, Bethan launched a small floristry business from her home in Lower Upham, while Angharad expanded her plant growing on Hayling Island. Now, with Harbourside Flowers, we’ve come together to share our love for seasonal, sustainable growing and bring beautifully grown, eco-friendly flowers to our local community.

Where the Flowers Grow
Our flower farm sits on a picturesque one-acre field at Northney Farm, overlooking the stunning Langstone Harbour on Hayling Island, Hampshire. We are committed to growing our own flowers and sourcing from other British flower farms whenever possible. During the winter months, when fresh blooms are scarce, we carefully select dried flowers and ethically sourced blooms from trusted growers around the world.
By working with the seasons, we not only reduce our environmental impact but also create unique, ever-changing arrangements that reflect the natural beauty of each time of year.

Why Choose British Flowers?
Most flowers sold in the UK are imported, often traveling thousands of miles from countries like Kenya, Colombia, and the Netherlands. While this ensures year-round availability, it comes at a significant environmental and ethical cost—air freight increases carbon emissions, large-scale farming depletes water sources, and working conditions in some regions can be poor.
By choosing British-grown flowers, we can lower our carbon footprint, support local growers, and enjoy fresher, naturally seasonal blooms. British flowers are often grown with greater environmental care, using sustainable methods that protect biodiversity and support pollinators. Supporting British producers not only strengthens our rural economy but also helps preserve the future of homegrown flowers.
What We Grow
We cultivate a diverse selection of perennials, shrubs, annuals, biennials, and bulbs, ensuring our bouquets and arrangements reflect the changing seasons. While we grow many familiar favourites, we also love to introduce more unusual and unexpected varieties, allowing us to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind floral designs throughout the year.
How We Grow
Our approach to flower farming is rooted in sustainability and respect for nature. We grow in harmony with the seasons, using organic and regenerative methods to nurture the land. We never use chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilisers, instead focusing on building healthy soil, enhancing biodiversity, and reducing erosion and runoff by planting a mix of shrubs, trees, and perennials.
Although we are not certified organic, we adhere to organic principles in everything we do. We practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM), aiming to create a balanced ecosystem where beneficial insects naturally keep pest levels under control.
Our farm is designed with sustainability in mind. The pathways are mulched with woodchip, which, once broken down, is repurposed as mulch for our flower beds before being replenished with fresh woodchip—kindly provided by a local tree surgeon as a waste by product of their work.
